'OK Jaanu' is an eccentric, modern love story between the beautiful Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, alongside the side romance between Naseeruddin Shah and Leela Samson.

To start off, each scene was filled with colours, intrigue, romance and, of course, angst. The tension between the characters were so intense, it was difficult not to be drawn into the movie from the first scene. The silences, gazes, and every movement and every touch was so ecstatic. These aspects really brought the film to life. Each actor/actress portrayed the stressed and beauties in life so flawlessly, and not only was it entertaining to watch but it also set standards for modern romance in the desi community.

Meeting in a church, during a wedding is what brings them together, and this unconventional way of meeting set the tone for the entire movie, making their untraditional antics more and more acceptable. That being said, the rest of their relationship is unconventional in the means of Indian tradition.

Now, sex is always an uncomfortable topic to bring up in Indian tradition, along with a male and female living together before marriage. Yet somehow, 'OK Jaanu' presents this concept as something more innocent and pure. While neither actors were as pious as they claimed, they continued their relationship in a way that was accepted by the respective guardians. This film will set a new standard in such families, allowing many new relationships a chance at success if they are followed through with respect and permission. The story does not start out as a forever type of romance. It starts with them planning to break up-- this really goes to show how unpredictable romance can be, especially when they had confined themselves to limits in time.

Aside from the romance, there were stresses in their lives which made the characters relatable and realistic. A perfect love story doesn’t exist and every couple has problems in their day-to-day lives. With the image of a mentally ill aunt, the story is deepened with the difficulty associated in Adi’s life. Along with Adi’s problems, Tara suffered many familial problems of her own making her life complicated. The best thing to see was that, aside from their problems, they found solace in each other.

The film also retouched older ideas such as songs: 'The Humma Song', a hit in the charts is a remixed version of an older song 'Humma Humma'. It is a new trend to remix older songs, but it seems to have started here. With an older song being remixed in the soundtrack, it brings back a feel of authenticity from the extremely modern romance of Adi and Tara.

While the movie may have exaggerated the idea of love and romance to the average viewer, the truths in it were bitter and extremely realistic. The movie was not perfect but neither is life. Aside from the materialistic beauty that the movie had, it was an outstanding film to watch once and again. It’s a feel good, comedy, astoundingly interesting love story that shows just how real and painful love can be. From me, this 'OK Jaanu' gets an 8.5/10 as it gave me the courage to pursue my own love story.
